School Uniforms

 

Whilst we cannot impose an official school uniform, the school does have a uniform of a navy sweatshirt and dark trousers or skirts, no jeans or training/track suit bottoms.  Both the sweatshirts and polo shirts have the UHCS logo on them, and can be purchased at National Schoolwear Centres, the closest being on Gloucester Road. To use the playground equipment, children must wear trainers.

 

General guidelines regarding clothing:

 

- Tidy and functional clothes should be worn to school.

 

- All items of clothing should be clearly labelled so the clothes are easier to find and return when children lose them.

 

- High fashion clothes are not suitable for school, eg. bulky jumpers, strappy or short shorts, Bermuda shorts, offensive logo t-shirts, very short or very long skirts, party type shoes of bright colours and high heeled shoes.  Shoes should be secure on the feet and not come off easily as this can be dangerous and cause accidents.

 

- Children wearing inappropriate clothes will be warned on the first occasion, and parents/carers will be made aware by letter on the second occasion. On a third occasion, parents/carers will be asked to take them home to change.

 

- Jewellery constitutes a real danger to children in school, therefore, no jewellery is allowed, except single studs or small sleepers, - certainly no necklaces, bracelets or rings.

 

- Make up, including eye-liner, false nails and nail varnish are not acceptable in school, and should not be worn.
