6/6/08

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome back to the final term of the year, which is the busiest and in terms of Ofsted Inspection the most important of the year.

During this term we will be making our final assessments of how your child is progressing and you will receive this information and a full written report in the week beginning 7th July.

Our other big event is our 3rd Ofsted Inspection when we have another

opportunity to show how much more we have improved.  This inspection will take place in the last week of June or first week of July.

Children’s Centre

Work is progressing well inside the building and soon we will see work beginning on providing a raised outside play area.  This will cause some disruption to our play times but the area will be safely fenced off.

Year 6—Green fingers

Year 6 have been gardening in the allotment behind the Eden Grove Community Centre.  They have planted vegetables and look forward to the produce later this term.

Year 5/6 Cyclists

Ten children are preparing themselves for the Cycling Proficiency Training.  They have had their bicycles checked and training starts soon.

Trip to Blaise

All our younger children—Reception Year 1 and Year 2 are looking forward to their trip to Blaise next Tuesday.

I hope all parents have responded with permission slips and voluntary

contributions.  Many thanks to parents who have volunteered to support on the day.

Year 6 Poets

Our Year 6 children have written some brilliant poems learning how to rhyme.  They thought about animals and their characteristics.  They are all on display in the corridor— here is a verse from Emily, Jamie and Nasrien.

The Bee has a nasty sting                     The monkey can’t stop hanging

The largest animal is the whale             The polar bear looks pale

The fly has a tiny wing                        The gorilla keeps on banging

But—the pig has the curly tail              But—the pig has the curly tail

          By Jamie                                                               By Nasrien

                                      The giraffes have long necks

The crocodile has a shimmering scale

A chicken hurts when it pecks

But—the pig has the curly tail       By Emily
