Dear Parents and Carers

It is the end of another busy week.  The whole of Key Stage 1 went on a visit to Blaise.  They were very lucky to have lovely weather and the children had a lot of fun exploring and investigating the woods, streams and the castle.  As with all visits this was linked with learning in school and we all enjoyed Year Two’s assembly with super examples of art work and writing based on the trip.  All of it was organised in a day so well done to Mrs Hayes and Ms Cousins!

Fun in the Sun

As the weather is getting hotter (fingers crossed!) please remember to make sure that your child has adequate protection from the sun.  Your child may bring sun cream with their name on it as long as they can put it on themselves.  Also, a hat can provide good protection for playtimes.

Reading

To support the work and the learning in school it is vital that children read at home as much as possible.  This can be anything and everything from the

internet to instructions for games, following simple recipes when cooking with an adult, as well as their school reading book.  Visiting the local library will also broaden their reading experience and help them develop a love of literature.  Any help you can give your child with their reading will strengthen their

learning in school.

Road Safety

Year 6 children have been receiving instruction on how to stay safe when

cycling.  As part of this they were taken out on the local streets by qualified instructors so they can learn some top tips to stay safe and avoid danger.  The course is a great success.  Year 5 will have the opportunity later in the term.  Year 3/4 will have a half day of safety training in the playground.  Details will follow shortly.
